Although BIGGIE Brands is relatively young, our founder Kat Kotrla has many years of experience in design and marketing.

In 2002, after studying at the Art Institute of Dallas, Kat returned to Austin and founded his first design firm, Design Project Neko which had a funky stylistic design voice and worked for clients in the iconic Austin music scene like Stubb’s BBQ and C3 Presents (Austin City Limits Festival / Lollapalooza). 

Not long after that, he co-founded a successful SaaS (software as a service) company, which is still in business today, almost 20 years later.

At BIGGIE Brands we are both designers and marketers, which makes us a unique partner. As creatives, we understand the importance of making things functional, effective, and beautiful.

Ted Rutherford

Ted Rutherford is the founder of Rutherford Creative, specializing in minimalist design, name marks, and branding collateral that leave a lasting impression. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Scenic Design from Ole Miss and a Master’s in Art from the University of Montevallo, Ted brings over 20 years of freelance experience to his clients, blending creativity with strategy to elevate brands.

An accomplished improviser and teacher since 2000, Ted uses his storytelling skills to help businesses craft compelling brand narratives and connect authentically with their audiences. His collaborative approach empowers clients to define their vision, ensuring their brand identity stands out.

Based in San Antonio, TX, Ted balances his design work with a passion for cold brew coffee, tacos, and woodworking. Whether he’s crafting a logo or building a piece of furniture, Ted’s focus is on creating with purpose and care. His dedication to storytelling and design helps brands engage meaningfully and look as good as they perform. Got questions? Let’s chat!
